This past Wednesday night was our third meeting for the Seattle.Net user group – and first meeting in the new location.  The new location turned out to be a great setup for the group – for both the presentation and other things (like parking).

Keri, Michal and Michelle all did a fantastic job of organizing the location and food for the evening.   Thanks again to Starbucks who was the sponsor of both the location and the food for the evening.

One of the great things about the new location and meeting in the Tazo 7 room was the layout, it provides a nice little stage for the speaker, with LCD screens hanging down for the speaker to view what is behind him and an easy seating setup that allows people to come and go without disrupting anyone.  The total count of people was somewhere between 20 and 25.

Since it was raining and traffic was pretty bad, we didn’t get started until around 6:15pm or so.   I started off the meeting introducing myself a little bit (since there were only 4 of us who had been at previous meetings) and discussed some of my reasons for starting the group.  Then I moved on to discussing the future of the group (since I’m moving back to New England in June) and introduced Keri Kusznir and Michal Kownas as the new leaders of the group.  I’ll post more on this topic later.

So far we’ve had three volunteers for book reviews – which should start coming in next month (that still leaves us with “Beginning Spatial with SQL Server 2008” to get a reviewer for).

Charles Sterling gave us a great presentation walking us through the new testing tools in Microsoft Visual Studio Team Systems 2010.  Charles really did a great job in show how some of the new tools are used and what they do to help testing all types of applications easier.

We had a few giveaways to raffle off – a Starbucks laptop bag, a Red-Gate mug and some golf balls provided by modis.

Keri and Michal are in the progress of lining up the next speaker – you can currently vote for the next topic on the Seattle.Net Facebook Group site – so please don’t forget to vote!

Thanks to everyone who came and see you again next month!
