First Seattle.Net User Group Meeting was a Success

Last night was the first Seattle.Net user group meeting.  The meeting went really well and I think everyone had a good time and hopefully learned something.

People started showing up around 5:30pm to have some pizza and drinks (a big thanks goes to Red-Gate for paying for the pizza).  Most of us had some time to mingle with people we didn’t know, as well as some we did know.  It seemed that most people knew at least 1-5 other people there.  In total, we ended up with around 25 people in attendance.  We had some people from Safeco/Liberty Mutual, Starbucks, WatchGuard, Microsoft and iMatch (and probably others that I missed).

I started the meeting off around 6:00pm with a little on who I was and some of my hopes for the group … I think I rambled on a bit too long – I took a mental note to prepare a little more next time.

Stephen gave a great presentation, as always (if you’re going to Mix next week – you should check out one of his sessions).  The talk was about new Asp.Net 4.0 stuff and jQuery … looks like VS 2010 is going to make things a lot easier for web developers.  The presentation was done around 7:30pm or so.

While I passed the raffle tickets around (thanks to Kari for getting those for me!), Charles helped out and got the group to vote on next month’s topic (TFS – Team Foundation Sever was the topic picked).

For the raffle we had a free license of SmartInspect and a copy of Stephen’s book ASP.NET 3.5 Unleashed

Thanks to all those who attended and I hope to see you next month!
