We've been living here for two months now ... time sure flies. My sabbatical is over and the next project has started ... so what did I do with two months off?
Moving to Seattle was a three phase process for us: Once our stuff finally arrived about a week and a half after we did, the first phase of moving is was complete. The second phase of moving was getting all the necessary Washington resident stuff complete, like license, registration, insurance and all that stuff. The third phase, which is employment, started this past week.
The time off started with a drive across the country (pictures of the trip are here, here and here) and a short visit with my family along the way. I've just about finished up my paper on obfuscation best practices (which is currently around 40 pages and on the 4th draft). I also have completed a few other writing pieces that I don't have the freedom to discuss at this point ;). Between the writing and research, we took the chance to explore Seattle and some of the surrounding area. In other spare time I had the chance to finish a few books (and start a few more). I found two user groups that meet in Redmond which I am planning on getting involved with and am planning on attending the Portland Code Camp in a few weeks, so I am slowly starting to get into the .net community here. I have also established a habit of exercising 5 times a week (no excuses!) - now on week 9 of this. The weather has been great! It has not rained or been cloudy for a whole day in 3 weeks now.
Currently it looks like I will be doing my Interesting Finds listing in the afternoon/evenings ... so it is moving to an afternoon edition instead of the early am edition it use to be on the east coast.
I'll keep you posted ...
