Seattle Differences 1

Some things I have noticed about Seattle ...

  • Sales tax is 8.8% ... ouch!
  • Supposedly there is no state income tax?  I'm not sure how this will affect me yet ...
  • Drivers are less aggressive (than Boston that is)
  • People talk more to people they don't know
  • People wait for walk lights to turn before crossing in a crosswalk
  • People use crosswalks
  • Wireless is everywhere
  • Cafes are a place to go to relax and enjoy life with friends (you wouldn't do this is a Dunkin Donuts)
  • Trees are much taller
  • Seagulls are bigger
  • Microsoft seems to be THE employer in the area whose employees get all the good perks
  • There are no cops working details at construction sites
  • Too many people in the area work on .Net all day to want to go to a user group about .Net after work ...
