Hi Jason..
There are two newspapers in Seattle proper. The Post-Intelligencer is the older of the two, while the Times is a former afternoon paper that moved to mornings about five or six years ago and is, at least in terms of circulation, dominant. The two papers have a joint operating agreement (they share infrastructure) which is currently the topic of a protracted court battle, so it's unclear how long you'll even have a choice in the matter. Both papers strike me as journalistically superior. There are also newspapers in some of the outlying suburbs, which strike me as several notches down the journalistic ladder.
As far as radio stations are concerned, I'm a news junkie so there are basically two choices. KOMO 1000 is a 24 hours news station along the lines of WCBS in New York, KNX in Los Angeles, or WBBM in Chicago (except all of those stations are CBS affiliates and KOMO is an ABC affilitate). The CBS affilitate in town, KIRO 710, calls itself "the news and traffic leader" but it's basically talk radio that does a news program for morning drive time. If you're looking for news, I'd recommend KOMO.
If you're looking for 60s and 70s rock, 103.7 FM and 102.5 FM are the ticket..
Good luck!

Ward, I noticed that seattlepi.com and seattletimes.com go to the same domain... interesting. Thanks for the info!

Yes, the shared "nwsource" domain is a fallout of the JOA. The initial JOA was constructed before the Internet took off and, if you can believe this in Seattle, prohibited the P-I from having a web presence! As part of a modification to the infrastructure sharing agreement a couple of years ago, which has the two papers sharing presses, delivery trucks, and the Sunday edition of the paper, the P-I finally got to put up a website.

The End used to be the best radio station in the US (IMO) until they sold out and got that idiot Adam Corolla to replace DJ Noname. Instead of the latest indy musice we now have some moron blethering on about himself. What a sell out by the End... very disappointing.
